My first introduction to yoga was when I was 10 years old – I had at that time an aunt that was a yogi but whose overall creative lifestyle scared the living daylights out of me.

It was only in 2008 when I was living and working in the US that I discovered a yoga class was offered every Friday at lunchtime on an abandoned floor in the office building that I worked at. I attended my first class and it was the most incredible experience – I left that class with a “yoga high”. For the next year I practiced once a week.

The following year I started practicing with the same yoga teacher at a gym on the weekend and then found a great studio close to my house. Two classes a week for the following two years was my sanity.

In late 2010 I returned back to South Africa and started practicing 4 times a week at a studio in my suburb and since then my frequency and intensity have increased.

I completed my 200-hour teacher training in 2017 and for the last two years I have taught at 9 different yoga studios. I teach hatha, vinyasa flow, yin and restorative yoga.

I believe that our bodies have the innate ability to heal themselves and that yoga philosophies create this foundation to achieve. Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to determining the cause of the ailments or illnesses that we suffer and the application of yoga asanas, pranayamas, mantras, meditations and cleansing techniques. I am excited to be part of this growing global movement that facilitates healing.
